Guide: How tall should your walking stick be?
If you are unsure about the correct height for your walking stick, you can easily find the right measurements at home. As a general rule of thumb, the correct length of a walking stick is about half your total height, but you can find the most accurate measurement by measuring from your wrist to the floor as explained below:
- Stand up straight with relaxed shoulders and arms at your sides - preferably with shoes on.
- Have someone else measure the distance from the floor to your wrist. This distance corresponds to the length of your walking stick from the floor to the top of the handle. It doesn't have to be precise to the centimeter but should not deviate by more than +/- 2 cm.
The stick can also be shortened with a saw to achieve the right length.
